Technology Based Small Firms

The Centre for Advanced Industry only takes companies who are involved in developing a technology based product or process or who are developers of intellectual property. As such we have a keen interest in promoting and helping to grow such companies.

NEMI has a particular interest in hearing from small firms at the higher end of the technology spectrum. If you are thinking of starting such a business or are an established company looking to expand, come and talk to us. We specialise in helping technology based small firms (TBSF) in many areas including:

Finance

TBSF's always have problems with raising finance. Often they have little more to show a potential funder than a good idea and a view of a potential marketplace. The area of technology they are in may be very specialised, complex and fast moving and traditional funders have neither the time nor the inclination to take on such forms which by definition are always high risk. There are however innovative ways to get technology based start ups going either through specialised lenders or on a risk/reward sharing basis.

Accommodation and Services

The Centre is a large building with a flexible space policy, state of the art telecommunications links and shared common services. We provide the facilities that a modern knowledge based business requires. If we haven't the configuration you need we'll try to organise it for you. In addition to the above we are part of the E-Business Foundation™

Other Help

The Centre is located in an area that has access to a wide range of support from Central and Local Government, from business support agencies and from other networks of advice.
